Brokenwood Chardonnay leads the way

brokenwood chardonnay

Time to ring the Chardy bell!

We are stoked to announce that Brokenwood has taken out not one... not two... but THREE trophies at the 2023 James Halliday Australian Chardonnay and Cabernet Challenge.

This challenge celebrates the world's most popular two varieties and Australia's outstanding regional diversity. The highest pointed wines for each variety are rewarded with the James Halliday Trophy, and the regional winners with scores of 95 points or more awarded Best of Region.

Now for the results...

🏆 2022 Oakey Creek Vineyard Chardonnay (Best of Hunter Valley Region)
🏆 2022 Indigo Vineyard Chardonnay (Best of Beechworth Region)
🏆 2021 Maragle Vineyard Chardonnay (Best of Tumbarumba Region)

These are fantastic results, as Brokenwood was the only producer to win multiple trophies. And yes, all three of these deliciously award-winning wines are available to purchase now.

Credit to the Winery and Vineyard Cru for their hard work and dedication. Special shout out to our Hunter Vineyard Manager Katrina Barry and her team, as this is the first Chardonnay made from our recently acquired Oakey Creek Vineyard. Teamwork really does make the Brokenwood dream work!

Along with these trophy wins, our 2022 Forest Edge Vineyard Chardonnay won a Gold medal and was runner-up for the Best of Orange Region. Unfortunately, this wine has completely sold out, but wasn't it a good drop.
