2025 Forest Edge Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc

2025 Forest Edge Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc
SPECIAL RELEASE

Orange, NSW

Quite pale as a young wine, which is typical of Sauvignon Blanc that hasn’t seen oak. Lifted varietal herbaceous notes with tropical passionfruit in the background. A lively palate and at 12.5% alcohol, a lovely softness to the mouth feel. The talc and passionfruit notes give a flavoursome palate aided by a juicy acidity. Excellent drinking as the weather warms up.

Wine Profile
Vinification
With Orange the last region to be picked, the day temperatures can be on the cool side. Even so, the fruit is machine picked at night and trucked to the Hunter Valley on the day of harvest and immediately pressed. After pressing, the clean juice is racked and an even, cool ferment conducted with aromatic yeasts. Matured in 100% stainless steel (no oak).
Winemaker Comments
Orange experienced a mild winter with good rainfall, which gave a full soil profile to start the season. Excellent early season conditions resulted in a vigorous canopy and healthy bunch numbers. Late spring/summer was noteworthy for the number of storms, with the rain and hail that came with it. Disease pressure was a constant, but Forest Edge and its extraordinary aspect handled the conditions better than most. The challenging conditions dissipated mid-February and allowed the vineyard to dry out in the two weeks preceding harvest. Harvest commenced on the 6th of March under clear skies.
