2023 Pinot Noir 1.5L

			Magnum Bottle

		Beechworth, VIC
Medium density with bright red hues. Lifted bramble and red cherry fruit notes – very attractive aromas. The palate starts out with crunchy red fruits complimented by the whole bunch used in fermentation and the French oak used. Lovely ripe tannins with a fresh acid backbone to carry the flavours right to the finish. The lingering aftertaste makes for a very enjoyable
Pinot Noir.

		Wine Profile

		Vinification
Retention of fruit character is always important. Processing involved a cold soak of the must for a few days and included approximately 30% whole bunches in the ferment. No post ferment maceration was
undertaken. Oak maturation was predominantly in used French oak barriques and puncheons, and bottled at the 9-month mark.
		Winemaker Comments
Brokenwood has been producing Pinot Noir from the Indigo Vineyard since 2002. As there are three clones (114, 115 & MV6) planted over
different soil types, there is opportunity to process a number of
different parcels; hence why we have both our Varietal as well as our Single Vineyard wines very much down this bright fruit path.
A milder and much later-than-average growing season was the
dominant factor in Beechworth for vintage 2023. Above average rainfall throughout the 2023 growing season made for a challenging growing season with disease pressure a constant. January was wet, with 108mm falling for the month. Thankfully, the rain cleared for February with only 19mm for the month. This allowed the vineyard to dry off. These
conditions resulted in wonderful fruit and tannin ripeness.
		Food Pairing
Duck and Pinot is a classic combination, also try with quail and steak tartare.
		Drink
Drinking well now as a rich and young Pinot Noir.
