2022 Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz
ICON RANGE
Hunter Valley, NSW
Bright mid-density colour with purple hues compliments the red spice and bramble fruit of Hunter Shiraz. Initial palate is very supple and complete, giving a lovely flow with great mid-palate sweetness which carries though to the finish. The length of the wine is underpinned by the wines natural acidity and fruit sweetness. A classic, elegant Hunter Valley Shiraz with fine long tannins with persistent length. A wine that will only build with time.

Wine Profile
Vinification
Processing started with a 3 day cold soak, then a 5-6 day ferment at
24-26C. The vineyard is on heavy clay soil which gives great fruit
concentration with tannin structure and direction. The oak regime for this wine is 100% French oak puncheons, with one, two and three year old oak being used, no new oak.
Winemaker Comments
The 33rd release of our Graveyard Vineyard Shiraz.
A season with many similarities to 2021 but overall of higher quality.
La Nina once again made for a cool, wet season, albeit tempered by consistent breeze, which kept the canopy dry and disease at bay. Pokolbin had reached its annual rainfall by the end of November, with it being the wettest November on record. We ended up receiving 956mm for 2021. it was one of the latest harvests in the Hunter in many years. Picking was conducted under cool, cloudy skies.
The old vines of Graveyard were harvested in the second week of February in pristine condition, resulting in fine, fragrant Shiraz.
Food Pairing
Pairs well with roasted rack of lamb or rare rib of beef.
Drink
Will improve with further bottle age.
