Perfect green tinted colour and a sure sign of careful fruit and then oak management. Aroma is more pineapple/citrus, then full on tropical coupled with toasted cashew notes from the French oak. Grapefruit pith and white nectarine carry through for a long finish. A fine textured palate with bright lime and citrus acidity. A Modern Australian Chardonnay at its best.

95 points - Halliday Wine Companion 2023. The most balletic wine among this stellar suite of chardonnays, each spanning one of Australia's premium regions. A pirouette of pumice and mineral twirl. Granitic of feel. Good terroir-to-glass transfer. A whiff of nectarine, white peach, fig and toasted almond. Yes lightweight, despite the paradoxical intensity of flavour and streamlined length. Winemaker Comments
Beechworth is a very important region for us and the vineyard is back in prime condition following the disastrous bushfires of 2020 where we didn’t pick a berry. It is truly one of Australia’s finest regions for Chardonnay. The Indigo property has different soils, aspect, clones and vine age, with majority of this wine being the Mendoza clone. Sufficient winter rainfall in 2020 saw the vines off to a good budburst and crop set. We received 140mm of rain in January which delayed the start of picking but the weather cleared from then on, with harvest commencing under clear skies.
Food Pairing
Seafood and light meats.
Whole bunch pressing, wild ferment in 100% new French oak, mostly 500L puncheons, and has come together in spectacular fashion. The wine was fermented in 30% new French oak and the balance older, from a variety of cooperages.
Drinking well now but will improve with further bottle age.
