2023 Indigo Vineyard Chardonnay

2023 Indigo Vineyard Chardonnay

Beechworth, VIC

Perfect green tinted colour is a sure sign of careful fruit and oak management. Aroma is green pineapple and grapefuit coupled with toasted cashew notes from the French oak. Grapefruit pith and white nectarine carry through for a long finish. A fine textured palate with bright lime and citrus acidity. A Modern Australian Chardonnay at its best.

Winemaker Comments
Beechworth is a very important region for us and the vineyard is back in prime condition following the disastrous bushfires of 2020 where we didn’t pick a berry. It is truly one of Australia’s finest regions for Chardonnay. The Indigo property has different soils, aspect, clones and vine age, with majority of this wine being the Mendoza clone. A milder and much later-than-average growing season was the dominant factor in Beechworth for vintage 2023. Above average rainfall throughout the 2023 growing season made for a challenging growing season with disease pressure a constant. January was wet, with 108mm falling for the month. Thankfully, the rain cleared for February with only 19mm for the month. This allowed the vineyard to dry off. These conditions resulted in excellent natural acidity. Careful handpicking ensured the grapes arrived at the winery in outstanding quality.
Food Pairing
