Following the success of Brokenwood’s Wildwood Road Cabernet Sauvignon; the idea of a single vineyard Margaret River Chardonnay has always been alluring. The perfect opportunity presented itself in late 2019, with the right site becoming available in Margaret River and the loss of our Indigo, Forest Edge and Maxwell Vineyard Chardonnays due to bushfire smoke. Brokenwood’s first single vineyard Chardonnay displays all of the characteristics that have made this region one of Australias most acclaimed Chardonnay regions.
The Wilson Road vineyard is located within the Karriedale sub-region, in southern Margaret River. The vineyard is close to Flinders Bay and is one of the coolest sites in the region. A cool, low yielding vintage provided perfectly ripe Chardonnay with wonderful natural acidity.
