2017 Indigo Vineyard Pinot Noir

2017 Indigo Vineyard Pinot Noir

Beechworth, VIC

Mid-density in colour, perfect for Pinot Noir. The aromas combine the best of the fruit, campari and cherry, and the winemaking; subtle reduction and ripe strawberries. These characters follow through to the palate with fine tannins, a bright acidity and a char–edge on the finish from the French Oak. The 2016 Indigo Vineyard Pinot Noir was a standout and this vintage raises the bar even further.

Wine Profile
Retention of fruit character is always important. Processing involved cold soak of the must for a few days and included approximately 20% whole bunches in the ferment. No post ferment maceration was under taken. Oak maturation was in predominantly used French oak barriques and bottled at the 12 month mark. This wine is a blend of the 3 clones 114, 115 & MV6.
Winemaker Comments
In Beechworth, two things really stand out, the consistent high quality of the grapes as the vines approach 20 years, and the stability of the weather. Very good winter rain was received in 2016 followed by a fine dry summer. Picking got underway two weeks later than in 2016.
Food Pairing
Enjoy with duck, quail or steak tartare.
This wine will mature further although enjoyable as a rich young Pinot Noir. Enjoy over the next decade.
