From vineyard to winery, sustainability has always been about more than a single initiative at Brokenwood Wines. It is about building a resilient future for our people, our region and our wines.

As proud supporters of NSW wine and the Hunter Valley, being recognised as the first NSW winery and first Hunter Valley producer to receive this award is both humbling and significant for our region.

On Monday 25 May 2026, we were incredibly proud to be named the winner of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW’s 19th Annual President’s Medal, one of Australia’s most prestigious food and beverage business awards.

The award recognises businesses demonstrating excellence across environmental practices, innovation, governance, resilience and community impact. For us, that recognition reflects years of steady progress behind the scenes. From composting grape skins, stems and seeds back into our vineyards, to reducing bottle weight, improving soil health and investing in smarter vineyard technology, every small change has been part of a bigger long-term commitment.

As Chief Winemaker Stuart Hordern shared, the recognition comes at a meaningful time for the Australian wine industry. While the sector continues to navigate challenging conditions, awards like this reinforce the importance of perseverance, innovation and backing your people.

What makes this honour especially rewarding is that the President’s Medal is not judged on the wine in the glass alone. It celebrates the strength of the entire business, including sustainability, succession planning, community contribution and future resilience.
