Winemakers' Comments
The second bottling of the Wade Block 2 from McLaren Flat. Grown in deep sand, this is an amazing vineyard in that it is only eight years old, but planted with cuttings sourced from a very old local vineyard. Again, very distinctive and complex, and more than qualifies for the ‘Single Vineyard’ label.
Vinification
Fermented using small open top fermenters and vinomatics with regular splashing to improve phenolic structure.
Tasting Notes
Intense dorris plum and blackberry jube fruit dominate the nose. A blend of American and French oak gives a subtle balance of vanilla and spice, all up, 20 months in oak. Classic McLaren Vale Christmas cake and brandy snap combine with liquorice and supple tannins to give a full flavoured palate with length of persistence.
