The Brokenwood Cru came about in 1975, when a new winery was built to accommodate our growing production (all of 700 cases). The winery housed fermentation tanks, oak barrels and dorm-style accommodation. Here lay, the exhausted bodies of the many helpers who came to stay at Brokenwood. Seduced by the promise of clean country air, fine food, wine and company in exchange for help in the vineyard and winery. These valued helpers became known as the Brokenwood Cru. Many of Australia’s most prominent wine identities did their time in the vineyards at Brokenwood and have shared the spirit that makes Brokenwood so unique.
Times have changed, but Brokenwood remains one of the unique identities in the wine industry today. The operation remains deliberately labour intensive, the only way of assuring the individuality of our wines.
We would like to extend an invitation for you to join the Brokenwood Cru Club and receive some of the same benefits as those who helped make our winery, without all the hard work.

Il Cacciatore Restaurant - would like to offer all Cru Club members a 15% discount off the food section of your bill to the value of $50.00 when dining in their restaurant.
Grange on Hermitage - we have negotiated a 10% discount on room rates at "Grange on Hermitage" - specialising in two bedroom self contained cottages set on 28 acres of natural bush and parkland. Bar-be-school - will team up with a member of the Brokenwood Cru in Sydney once a month to present a hands on BBQ cooking experience. As a Brokenwood Club member you will be offered an interactive, themed cooking class with a competitive edge. Members will be split into teams and the cook off will begin. Each team will prepare, cook and devour a sumptuous selection of 4 BBQ dishes all matched perfectly with Brokenwood Wines. The winning team will walk away with the monthly prize pack. So come along and not only enjoy the great wine and food but pick up a few cooking tips from the professionals. Members will be notified of the dates and venues via email.
