Mixed Red Dozen (12pk)
3 bottles each of:
2014 Cricket Pitch Red, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot
Vibrant colour and mid density. Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz blends and vice versa, are often referred to as the great Australian blend, although the Bordelaise would disagree seeing it was common in Bordeaux in the 1800s. Best of both varieties with red fruit Cabernet and fine tannins with the Shiraz providing mouth feel and palate length. A style all about fruit, some oak background but soft tannins and an easy drinkability.
2012 Friends Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, Central Ranges NSW, Beechworth VIC & Hunter Valley NSW
Lifted cassis and leafy fruit with cedar/vanillin oak background. Very sweet entry to the palate and quite firm (but not aggressive) ripe tannins. Good alcohol weight. Dusty tobacco Cabernet Sauvignon flavours on the finish.
2014 Pinot Noir, Beechworth, VIC
This wine is bright in colour with youthful tints and medium density. The Beechworth Pinot Noir is consistent with its lifted cherry fruit with oak very much in the background. The red fruit spectrum continues on the palate with Campari like savoury fruit. Soft tannins make for a very enjoyable young, vibrant Pinot Noir.

2012 Friends Selection Shiraz, Hunter Valley, NSW, Beechworth, VIC & Wrattonbully, SA
Medium density colour with bright youthful tints & aromas of mocha and charry bramble from the oak. These are integrated with blackberry, savoury Hunter Shiraz fruit. A medium alcohol weight carries the rich flavours. The palate has vanillin and dark cherry. The oak is forward at this stage but there is more than enough fruit to match it. Soft tannins and a dry finish round it out.
