Machine harvested, crushed and chilled to tanker in McLaren Vale. Open fermentation in the Hunter. Not overly pumped over, as soft tannins are required. Oak maturation 100% French.
The sixteenth bottling of the Wade Block 2 from McLaren Flat. Grown in deep sand, this is an amazing vineyard in that it is nearing 20 years old, but planted with cuttings sourced from a very old local vineyard and grown on own roots. Again, very distinctive and
complex, and more than qualifies for the ‘Single Vineyard’ label.
An excellent and abundant vintage for McLaren Vale. 2015 saw
minimal winter rains followed by a warm dry spring meant a low disease pressure. In early February, one rain event dumped twice the monthly average over a few days. Ripening proceeded with no water stress and excellent fruit condition.
Pairs well with beef dishes.
Drinking well now but will reward with medium to long term
