Whole bunch pressing, wild ferments in new French oak have come together in spectacular fashion. The wine was fermented in 35% new French oak and the balance older, from a variety of cooperages.
The Orange district is widely recognised as one of Australia’s premium cool climate regions. Rob Crawford established the ‘Forest Edge’ Vineyard in 1988. Vintage 2015 is Brokenwood’s 16th year of handling fruit from Forest Edge.
The 2015 vintage for the Orange region can only be described as excellent. On the back of 250mm of rain over winter and then a dry Spring/Summer the grape growing was disease free with perfect ripening.
It is not often a region records rain free months but Orange did so with 3 months as no rain fell in September and December 2014, nor January 2015. It was very close to 4 months as October 2014 only
had a light shower of 1.5mm.
Pairs well with seafood and veal dishes.
Drinking well now but will improve with further bottle age.
